Lidl
Since opening in Romania (and in particular their Pipera stores), Lidl have become the regular haunt for families in Bucharest. You can always find offers on food in store and the range and quality is pretty good (although it is mainly ‘own brand’ rather than branded products). The reason that many people shop at Lidl though is because of their regular non-food offers which appear in store on Mondays and Thursdays. Items on offer throughout the year include kids toys in November/December, kids clothes, winterwear in November, notebooks and bags in August, garden toys in July etc. There are theme months e.g. American, Oriental food and drink. There are heavy discounts on Super Saturdays on a select few items also.
Did you know – that there is a customer toilet in Lidl Pipera on Iancu Nicolae? Go through the door beside Till 1 (it looks like it is Staff Only) and then the customer toilet is straight ahead of you (Staff Only doors at to the right). Great news if you are shopping with little ones!

I always prefer it to other shops because it’s never too big and I always find what I need. Some offers are really good there.and many cheap clothes for kids, not bad quality at all.
I had a bad first impression of this shop, but at the end : some good toys and nice bread for my son.
Better to go regulary to be able to know what will come the following week.
I feel like I spend the majority of my time perusing the special offers in Lidl!I go to the store at Pipera plaza. Parking is never an issue and I never experience the crowding that is often an annoyance in Carrefour at Baneasa. The fruit and vegetables are fresh and there is a wide range on offer. I always manage to pick up something that isn’t on my shopping list ( bedding, cookware, toys/games for my daughter).
Lidl has a great fruit and vegetable section, nothing fancy, but every day fresh and good quality. The bio producst increase currently and the products are really good quality. I do my main shopping at Lidl and in combination with Mega Image you don’t miss anything.
In my experience, the Lidl in Pipera is a much nicer shopping experience than the other Lidl stores here! As Lidl publish their weekly offers beforehand I would recommend going on the actual day they are first on sale as some of their offers sell out quick especially children’s toys and clothes. Their offers also reflect occasions/celebrations so for example at Halloween you can pick up cheap themed outfits, food etc. Also a good place to buy matured cheddar cheese :).
