Dance Art Studio
Andreaa Toma runs a popular Dance Studio in Pipera which holds classes for kids and adults throughout the week. There are ballet classes for kids between 3 and 18 years old and modern dance classes for kids between 4 and 18 years old. For adults there are ballet classes (beginner or returning to ballet, as well as other levels), yoga and zumba.
Andreaa’s qualifications and experience include being a professional ballerina at the Opera House of Bucharest and at the Operetta of Bucharest, and a choreographer and graduate of UNATC – the University of Theater, Movie and Choreography of Bucharest.
Andreaa Toma says “I have a long experience in teaching and working with kids and adults, since 2001. I teach at AISB, INSPE, Lycee Francais de Bucarest, Stejarii Ioanid Preschool, etc. Teaching is for me a great opportunity to share the joy of dance to all my students, kids or adults. I want to bring more grace, beauty and harmony in their lives!”

Andreea’s positive and enthusiastic attitude make the dance classes enjoyable for the kids. The studio is clean and is conveniently located for those who live in Pipera (although parking at times gets a little crowded). I also like the pay as you go set-up, as sometimes missing a class at the last minute is unavoidable. Andreea focuses on teaching the younger kids a particular routine as opposed to the more traditional bar work and specific technique work (I seem to remember more structured ballet classes as a kid).
On the negative side, there are currently (in my opinion) too many kids in some classes (there can be around 12 – 15 kids in ballet for 4-5yr olds and modern dance for 6-8 yr olds), and as a result, the studio is too crowded and kids sit for stretches of time whilst each child takes it in turn to practice the step. The classes do sometimes get a bit unruly with so many kids (often as a result of getting a bit fidgety because they are sitting around waiting).
