It is normally possible to visit the Astronomical Observatory in Lascar Catargiu (between Piata Romana and Victoria) except the headquarters here are currently under renovation. For the time being therefore it is possible to make observations from the Princely Palace Court. No appointment is necessary and visitors will benefit from a guide (Romanian and English). Observations are always affected by the weather (cloud, snow and rain will seriously hamper visibility) and the time of sunset (as viewing finishes at 9.30pm throughout the year even during the light evenings in the summer). Full details of visiting hours and guidance are available online.
