King’s Oak Toddler Group (formerly InSPE)
There are a number of playgroups that run throughout the year that moms (and dads) with pre-school children can attend.
King’s Oak (formerly InSPE) host a Parent and Toddler Group on Tuesday mornings from 9am until 11am. The group is based in one of their nursery classrooms and is led by one of the nursery teachers (on rotation).
King’s Oak Toddler Group offers pre-school children a chance to take part in the messier activities that they might not try at home, and to socialise with other kids. Activities on offer often include play dough, painting, exploring nature, shaving foam and texture trays. There is also an opportunity to play outside in the Nursery Playground. Coffee is available for parents and a small fruit snack is offered to children.

InSPE was the first toddler group that I went to right after I moved here a few years ago. The environment is very warm and inviting. The teachers seem to really care about the children as well. Miss Ela is a prime example. She leads the playgroup and is constantly changing up the activities and wandering around the classroom interacting with each and every child. The outdoor area is nice as well for the children to explore. Actually, from coming to this weekly playgroup, I fell in love with this school and had my daughter start in the nursery school at age 3. I can’t say a bad thing about it. Now, my son who is 2.5 years old has been enjoying the weekly toddler group and will start school there in the fall. I can’t say enough good things about this school. 🙂
My 1 year old really enjoys this playgroup. The group is led by one of the nursery teachers and I agree with the previous comment, she is fabulous. The activities on offer really appeal to my daughter. She enjoys playing in the sandbox, role play area, play dough and LOTS of building materials. There is always an art activity for the children to try. The outdoor area is great with numerous slides, a swing set and lots of other resources for the children to explore.
My kids both really like the InSPE Toddler Group. We went in 2014-2015 when my daughter was 2 and she loved all the activities she got to do there like playdough, shaving foam, painting and playing outside. She would look forward to it all week! I had my newborn with me and he often slept through the group (!)
This year 2015-2016 I attend with my toddler son who is 1 and he too likes exploring the activities on offer in the classroom.
As a mum it is great as you do get a chance to talk to other mums whilst the kids are engaged in activities with Miss Ella (who is fabulous!) and whilst you are playing with them.
