Hidden Bucharest: Alternative Park Days Out
Spring is here and we all want to get out and enjoy it! Here are some alternative ideas for getting out and enjoying the parks of Bucharest.
Mogosoaia – Tineratului – Oraselul Copiilor – Edenland – Herastrau
Hidden Pipera – cafes, parks and restaurants
Mogosia is beautiful and relaxing to walk around and the playground at the southern end of the park has been renovated and is much improved now! Why not combine a walk and a play with dinner or lunch at the restaurants there that have good food, good prices and outdoor and indoor seating! There is parking at the main house as well as along the streets parallel to the park.
Tineratului is another beautiful park to walk around in the southern side of the city and you can easily access it by Metro if you prefer not to drive. After a walk around the park you can treat the kids to time on the rides at Oraselul Copiilor theme park at the southern corner of the park. If traveling by Metro you can get off at the northern stop, then return from the southern stop.
Edenland is well known for climbing and ropes courses but younger kids can still enjoy the play park there which is full of safe and suitable equipment. You can walk in the woods, hire bikes and ride horses too and the restaurant serves good food at good prices throughout the day. Driving and parking is easy.
There are many choices if you want to visit Herestrau. You could park near Hard Rock and Berarie H and then walk or scoot around the lake to work up an appetite. You could also combine this with some time on the rides at Miramagica if you take the ferry to the other side of the lake in the summer.
If you are in Pipera and don’t want to venture far, then here are a few tips for hidden Pipera!
Prajituresele is a small cafe set in a nice garden with a few play things for kids.
You will find the large and open Regina Ana park next to Voluntari football ground along Strada Ioan Serban (map shows approx location). There are two areas for play equipment and a skate park.
If you walk to the end of the road next to Profi (previously Tia) you can enjoy the large open field that backs on to the airport runway and some small play equipment there.
Why not combine a walk in the forest or a play at Casa Alba with lunch out at Green Garlic or Phil’s restaurant?
