Parcul Regele Mihai 1 (formerly Herastrau Park)
Parcul Mihai 1st (renamed from Herastrau Park in 2018) is the main park in the North of the city and is popular throughout the year. The park is divided in two by Herestrau Lake. The path that circumnavigates the lake is popular for walking or running as well as cycling. There are a few kiosks around the park as well as some notable restaurants including Pescariu, Beraria H and Hard Rock Cafe. There are often activities taking place at weekends in the park, for example the Swedish festival of culture and the Race for Cure takes place in the park in June and in August the Green Sounds music festival.
The park contains a number of play park areas for children of all ages, skate ramps areas, a ferry boat to cross the lake (weather permitting), bikes for hire (weather permitting).
Parking: For a small charge you can park along Bulevard Aviatorilor, or inside the park near resturant Piscarius, Beraria H or Hard Rock Cafe. Free parking is available on the northern part of the park along Sos Nordului although this can get very busy.
Transport: The nearest Metro is Aviatolior and a number of buses run alongside the park.
Food/drink: there are a number of kiosks in the park and small cafes. Near by but outside of the park on the southern-side there is a City Grill. On the western side of the park near the lake there is the Hard Rock Cafe and Beraria H.
