Easter in Bucharest and Romania
“Is it Christmas already?” you might have been thinking when you saw that they are installing decorative lights and features along the main streets in Bucharest. But, no! For the first time there will be lights and displays along the main streets to celebrate Easter!
This year the orthodox Easter (which is celebrated in Romania) and the western Easter will take place on the same weekend 14th – 17th April. Easter is an important celebration in Romania and so there will be and there will be events taking place throughout the city of Bucharest and beyond (and be warned that this means many shops will be shut over the Easter Weekend).
Traditii si Flori de Sarbatori 7th – 17th April 10am – 10pm in Piata Constitute. Easter fair with hundreds of stalls selling traditional produce, decorative and other traditional items. There will be rabbits and lambs, children’s workshops (4-6pm every day, 11-1pm at weekends) and a carosel and train ride for kids.
7th – 9th and 14th – 17th April there will be a music programme on the main stage. Full details on facebook.
Calae Victoria will become pendestrianised for the weekends around Easter, so enjoy walking along this beautiful street and the events and stalls that will take place along it. With everything from traditional painted eggs to floral arrangements and handmade jewelry, greeting cards and decorations.
