Casa Alba
Casa Alba (Romanian for White House) is the name of the restaurant that is in the centre of this park on the edge of the Baneasa forest in Pipera. There is a large sculptured grass park that people use for walking or picnicking in front of the white house. The play park is between the restaurant in the shelter of the edge of the forest has equipment suitable for toddlers and young children as well as table tennis tables, a football table and adult exercise equipment.
This play park area is a meeting point for Bucharest Moms on Friday mornings (weather permitting). Contact Bucharest with Kids for more information or follow us on Facebook for updates.
The park is on the very edge of the forest which means it is great for visiting in the summer months (as it provides good shade – but remember to bring mosquito repellent) and in the colder months (when the trees protect it from some of the harsher weather).
It is possible to hire bikes in the park in the summer, but people use the tracks in the woods to cycle throughout the year. In the Autumn and Spring there are occasional running races through the woods behind the park and people regularly run using the tracks there throughout the year.
From the park there are many paths into the forest; some more established than others. The forest is great to explore and the concrete tracks that run parallel to the main road should help you not get too lost. The forest is lovely to explore in the autumn as the leaves are falling, the winter when the trees are covered in snow, the spring as the flowers and buds start appearing and in the summer when it is green as far as the eye can see!
There is parking along the access road around the grass park and the #301 bus (Piata Romana – Jolie Ville) also stops on the main road.
Address: Aleea Privighetorilor 31-35
We come here A LOT! My daughter loves it. She’s 1 and the equipment is easily accessible for her while still catering for older children too. There are larger climbing frames and slides for more adventurous children as well as outdoor exercise equipment. There is a basketball court next to the park. We have recently started to explore the forest next to the playground and my daughter loves walking through the leaves and mud!
This is one of my favourite spots to hang out. So easy to get to and with lots of parking. This park is perfect…. Lots of trees, so completely shaded in the summer months, and sunny in the winter months when the trees have lost their leaves.
